11. Game Three, 1999: First drawn game in the wet at Lang Park Game Three
It took two decades of nailbiting contests for the interstate contest to finally throw up a drawn series. It happened in 1999, with Queensland taking the opener 9-8 at Lang Park and the Blues hitting back 12-8 at the Sydney Football Stadium. Torrential rain turned Lang Park into a swamp for the decider, with the two desperate sides bashing out a heart-stopping 10-all draw in atrocious conditions. With Queensland hanging on, knowing their 2-1 triumph in 1998 would see them retain the trophy with a draw, NSW launched a final assault at their line. When fullback Robbie Ross couldn't handle a Laurie Daley inside ball 23 seconds from full-time all of Queensland breathed a collective sigh of relief.
