The 2009 SP Brewery Pacific Cup will take place in Cairns and Port Moresby this October, featuring Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Samoa and the Cook Islands.

This tournament operates as a qualifier for the remaining spot for the 2010 Four Nations tournament which will take place in Australia and New Zealand.

The winning team will join, test sides, the Australian Kangaroos, New Zealand Kiwis and England Lions in the tournament which will run over October and November next year.

The seedings for this years’ Pacific Cup are based upon the results from the 2008 Rugby League World Cup. As such Fiji (1st), Papua New Guinea (2nd) and Tonga (3rd) have already secured their spots in the main tournament, whilst Samoa (4th) and the Cook Island (5th) will have to play a qualifier in Cairns for the right to continue.
