NRL referee's boss Tony Archer takes a look at some of the contentious calls from Round 18 of the NRL Telstra Premiership.
Archer says the Bulldogs' first try against the Broncos, scored by Josh Morris, should not have been a try due to an error by the on-field referee.
"The video referee followed the correct process – he is not allowed to check a forward pass," Archer said in his weekly address with NRL.com.
"The referee on the field got the decision wrong. He initially awarded six more tackles due to the ball being knocked down by Matt Gillett. But clearly on replay that wasn't the case – the ball went forward.
"But the video referee definitely followed the correct process."
Archer also gives his feedback on Ben Barba's lifting tackle on Ben Creagh when the Dragons veteran looked certain to score against the Sharks, and two tackles in the air involving Bulldogs winger Curtis Rona against the Broncos and Warriors hooker Nathan Friend against the Storm.
The referee's boss also praised the work of officials during the 2015 Holden State of Origin series.
"I thought the referees during the series were really good. They (Gerard Sutton and Ben Cummins) did all three games and they contributed to the standard of the series," Archer said.
"I thought they handled a really difficult game on Wednesday night, not just through penalties but also through their skilful communication.
"Overall in the series I thought they were really good."
