Some of the best schoolboy talent in the country will assemble on Sunday (June 21) for the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League (ASSRL) National under-15 Championships in western Sydney.

The under-15 Championships will be played at St Marys Leagues Stadium from Sunday 21 June through to Friday 26 June.

In all, ten teams from schoolboy associations and State Leagues will compete throughout the week, culminating in the National under-15 Final, as well as the naming of the Australian Schoolboys Merit Team and Australian Pool B Merit Team.

"The ASSRL is the recognised elite pathway for schoolboy players into the NRL, so this is an extremely important tournament for the game," the NRL's general manager league integration and game development Andrew Hill said.

"Many of our past and present NRL and Representative Players have progressed through the ASSRL system. The under-15 schoolboy championships, really, are the first significant step on the pathway to NRL.

"It is pleasing to see that each state has a strong representative pathway program for players across Australia, and that this talent will be showcased in a rugby league heartland like Western Sydney."

In addition to the Rugby League matches throughout the week, all players and team staff will participate in welfare and education sessions delivered by the NRL.

Live scores for this year's 2015 ASSRL under-15 Championships can be viewed at www.assrl.org.au.
