Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett believes Titans halves partners Tyrone Roberts and Ashley Taylor hold the key to the Gold Coast's premiership charge, and not new signing Jarryd Hayne.
Hayne announced that he would be joining the Titans on a two-year deal on Wednesday after widespread speculation about his future.
He will be available for selection on Sunday for Gold Coast's match against the New Zealand Warriors at CBUS Super Stadium, with a bumper crowd expected to welcome the superstar athlete.
But Bennett believes the hype should be around the Titans' halves and what they've managed to do since arriving on the Gold Coast at the start of the 2016 season.
"They've got a couple of good little halfbacks there. I've coached both of them and they can play," Bennett said.
"Tyrone Roberts and Ashley Taylor are doing great things.
"Ash spent the year training with the first-grade squad last year and it seems like we've all forgotten about him and his season so far now that Hayne has signed.
"They've both done really well and I know how good Tyrone can be. It's great to see them doing a lot of things right."
Like Hayne, Taylor and Roberts signed with the Titans after the Gold Coast failed in their bid to sign Sea Eagles halfback Daly Cherry-Evans midway through the 2015 season.
It has been a blessing in disguise for the Titans, with star recruits Nathan Peats and Konrad Hurrell also joining the team midway through this year.
Gold Coast now have one of the more impressive rosters in the NRL, with the Hayne signing only bolstering their chances of winning their first NRL premiership.
Bennett said he was happy to see the Titans doing well, with the master coach impressed by the Gold Coast's new-look playing roster.
"It's good for the game and I'm pleased for the Titans," Bennett said.
"It's great to have Hayne back in rugby league. He's a big personality and he has plenty of profile in the sporting world.
"The Titans are doing a really good job down there on the Gold Coast.
"They are playing with a lot of spirit and it has been wonderful to see how well they are playing.
"It's been really good to see that from them and now they've got a great player to add to their roster. He's certainly not going to be a liability."
Hayne will definitely not be a liability, but it might take him some time to rediscover the form that saw him win the 2009 and 2014 Dally M Medals.
The former Parramatta Eel has not played rugby league since leaving the NRL at the end of the 2014 season.
His stints in the NFL and rugby sevens will mean he will be lacking match fitness, and Bennett said Hayne might take a few weeks to find his form and get back to his best.
"It'll take Hayne a little bit of time to rediscover his form, but it won't take him long," Bennett said.
"He's been playing a contact sport while he's been away anyway."
