Brisbane Broncos prop Adam Blair says South Sydney's performance at Suncorp Stadium last year is still firmly in the back of his mind heading into this Friday night's Anzac weekend blockbuster between the two NRL heavyweights.
In what seems a lifetime ago, Souths and Brisbane opened the 2015 season in one of the most one-sided season-openers in recent history.
The Rabbitohs put on a dominant display – recording a 36-6 win that put question marks over the Broncos' premiership aspirations.
But to Brisbane's credit, they learnt from the experience and went on to belt the Rabbitohs 47-12 at Allianz Stadium later that season.
The Round 1 match was Blair's first as a Brisbane Bronco and the 30-year-old is adamant the Rabbitohs will be out to repeat history on Friday night, with it being their first trip back to Suncorp Stadium since the blowout.
"I do remember that night very well. It was my first game for the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium," Blair said.
"It was disappointing and we know what Souths can do, they just haven't been playing as well as they can.
"They are dirty on themselves and they'll be coming up here to prove a point to not only themselves but also everyone else.
"This Friday night will be a massive game for both clubs. They'll be coming up here to perform so we have to make sure we turn up with the right attitude and are ready for a tough game."
The star of that night was Greg Inglis, with the Queensland fullback making a habit of turning it on when he visits Suncorp Stadium.
It was ANZAC Round 2014 when Inglis produced the try of the year against the Broncos, with some pundits labelling it the greatest try in NRL history.
The try was one of the most-viewed highlights clips on NRL.com that season, and is a prime example of the speed, power and athleticism that the 29-year-old possesses.
After fielding a Ben Barba chip kick, Inglis beat seven defenders on his way to the try line, with his 90-metre run wowing the Suncorp Stadium crowd and helping the Rabbitohs to a 28-26 win.
Brisbane second-row forward Matt Gillett said even he still watches highlights of the try.
"I see the highlights of 'that' try he scored all the time. He's a freakish player and if we do a good job on him then it's going to help the team," Gillett said.
"He's their danger man. If we aren't doing our job on our kick chases then he's going to hurt us a lot.
"In previous years he's scored some freakish tries because we haven't put enough pressure on him. We'll have to be very clinical with what we do against him this week."
Corey Oates (knee) and Alex Glenn (hip flexor) both failed to train today but are expected to line up on Friday.
