Lachlan Maranta looks set to spend at least another week at fullback against the Roosters in Round 6.

The Broncos believe that Cronulla's upset win over the Roosters will have them fired up and ready for redemption when they travel to Suncorp Stadium for Friday's top-four showdown.

The Sharks pulled off an unlikely but fully deserved 20-12 win against the Roosters on Easter Sunday, scoring four tries against the second best defensive unit of 2014.

Brisbane is currently on a four-match unbeaten run and will face a stern test of their top-four credentials when they tackle last year's minor premiers according to makeshift fullback Lachlan Maranta.

"[The] Roosters have been a great team and very consistent over the past couple of years so it could really work against us," Maranta said.

"They'll probably get a revving at training this week and come out all guns blaring on Friday night.

"We've got to get ready for that and withstand what they bring to us."

The Roosters had to wait until the 67th minute to post their opening try against the Sharks with Maranta's opposite number on Friday night, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, showing a blistering turn of pace to slice through the defensive line from inside his own half.

"I watched the game on Sunday and that try he scored – I just sat there and rewatched it – and you just think you wouldn’t mind doing something like that," said Maranta, who has four tries so far this season.

"Obviously Roger's a fantastic player; he's represented his country and he's been doing that consistently and that's why he's got the reputation of being a freak."

The Chooks haven’t dropped back-to-back games since the last time they lost against Cronulla in Round 17, 2014, although that match was played prior to Origin III with the likes of Michael Jennings, Daniel Tupou, Boyd Cordner and Aidan Guerra all missing.

Echoing the sentiments of Maranta, Broncos halfback Ben Hunt knows his side must compete for the full 80 minutes against the Tricolours.

Brisbane only needs to cast their mind back to Round 3 last season where they were leading the Roosters by eight points with five minutes to go, only to end up losing the match 30-26 after going into the sheds level at 12-12.

"They're a great side and getting knocked off will stir them up a bit and now they're going to come up here firing this week so it's probably not a good thing for us," Hunt said.

Defence will again be the key for the Broncos with the club only conceding 56 points in their last four games after leaking 36 in the Round 1 opener against South Sydney.

Brisbane's defensive unit held strong last week with the Titans unable to crack their line in the opening and closing quarters of the game despite holding the majority of possession during those periods.

"We really want to be a great defensive team and to come out and pretty much defend for that first 15 minutes (against the Titans) really gave us a lot of belief in ourselves and I think that's what set us up to win the game."

Justin Hodges (hamstring) and Adam Blair (thigh) are a chance of returning for Friday's blockbuster, although Jordan Kahu is set to miss another couple of games with a hamstring injury picked up in training last week.

Aidan Guerra (cheekbone) is set to miss a month of football for the Roosters while Jake Friend (shoulder) and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (calf) will be assessed.
