Brisbane have given fullback Josh Hoffman permission to negotiate with other NRL clubs, while also openly declaring their intent to sign Newcastle fullback Darius Boyd.
Hoffman's future has been the subject of intense speculation for a while, with a number of fullbacks either already on or likely to join the roster for 2015.
Former Bulldog Ben Barba finished 2014 at five-eighth playing alongside Ben Hunt in the halves but the club will also welcome Raiders fullback or playmaker Anthony Milford in 2015, along with former Hull KR fullback Greg Eden.
Newcastle fullback Darius Boyd was always a chance to follow his mentor Wayne Bennett back to Brisbane once Bennett was confirmed as coach for 2015, and the club has now officially confirmed its intention to bring the Test and Origin winger back to the club he made his NRL debut with back in 2006.
That all leaves little room for Josh Hoffman, who had a mixed time at five-eighth earlier in the year before finding some form at fullback late in the season when he swapped roles with Barba.
"After a meeting between the Broncos' executive and Josh Hoffman’s management today, the club has formally given the player and his manager permission to negotiate with other clubs," the Broncos said in a statement.
"The Broncos and Hoffman’s manager, Paul Hogan, have agreed this move is the most beneficial for all parties at this point in time."
The Broncos said the club will honour the final year of Hoffman's contract if he elects to stay on in 2015.
"In fairness to Josh and Catalyst Sports Management, we feel we need to give him the opportunity to explore offers he may or may not receive from other clubs," Broncos chief executive Paul White stated.
"As Josh’s preferred position is fullback, the Broncos are happy to work with his management to allow this process to take place.
"If Josh and his management are unable to source a more suitable outcome, the Broncos will be pleased to honour his playing contact for the 2015 season."
The club stressed while it planned on recruiting Boyd ahead of 2015, no deal has yet been done.
