Bulldogs confirm Ennis departure

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have confirmed that current captain Michael Ennis will be leaving the club at the end of the 2014 season in order to take up a two-year deal with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.

Ennis played his 97th game for the club in Sunday's loss to the Eels and Bulldogs chief executive Raelene Castle says Ennis leaves what will be a lasting legacy at the club.

“The Bulldogs are disappointed that we weren’t able to come to an agreement with Michael for the future and we thank Michael for the enormous contribution he has made during his six years here,” Castle said via a statement on the Bulldogs website.

“Everyone here holds him in high regard and supports his decision, which is ultimately in the best interests of his family and their future.”

The signature of Ennis shores up the hooking position that has been decimated in recent weeks with youngster Michael Lichaa first announcing that he was joining the Bulldogs from 2015 and Isac De Gois last week joining the Parramatta Eels after receiving an immediate release.
