A meeting of National Rugby League Chief Executives has today formally recognised the contribution of David Gallop during his ten years as the game’s Chief Executive.
The Chief Executives said that Mr Gallop had demonstrated tremendous leadership that had taken the NRL into a new era of opportunity.
“I think we all accept that there are times of change in any business but it is important that everyone stops to recognise David’s outstanding leadership, his work with the clubs and his even handed approach in dealing with issues.” Roosters Chief Executive, Mr Stephen Noyce, said on behalf of the group.
“He was always someone who worked with the clubs in the interests of the players and fans in a measured and transparent way and we welcome the chance to acknowledge that contribution.”
ARLC Chairman, Mr John Grant, addressed the meeting chaired by Interim Chief Executive, Mr Shane Mattiske.
Mr Grant outlined that recruitment firm Spencer Stuart had commenced the process and would work with clubs and all stakeholders in finalising the position requirement.
Mr Grant was clear that there were no preferred candidates and that Spence Stuart would conduct an independent search reporting to an ARLC retention and remuneration committee.
The role will be filled by way of ‘executive search’ rather than public advertisement.
Today’s meeting focussed on strategic planning issues including an ongoing focus on second tier competitions and development pathways.
