Cowboys players Scott Bolton, Ray Thompson, Johnathan Thurston, Jake Granville and Sam Hoare model the club’s 2016 jersey range.

The North Queensland Cowboys have revealed the five jerseys they will wear throughout their title defence in 2016 including a striking Indigenous Round jersey that embraces the club's 20-year history.

Co-captain Johnathan Thurston was on hand to model the new home strip that along with the away jersey features heritage-style stripes with all jerseys also now adorned with new sponsor, The Ville Resort-Casino.

The Indigenous Round jersey – as modelled by Sam Hoare on the far right of the picture – was designed by Torres Strait artist Sharon Phineasa who draws on the myths and legends passed down by tribal elders as inspiration for her work.

"Warriors would evoke the strength of their ancestors to give them power over their adversaries and ensure victory," said Ms Phineasa.

"Once endowed with this spiritual strength, warriors became invincible.

"The adornment of ceremonial war paint and markings was to strike fear in their rivals. The markings were also acknowledgement of their clans and totems that set them apart in battle."
