Broncos second-rower Alex Glenn says Wayne Bennett will make a difference to any team he coaches next year.

North Queensland left it late to record an 18-6 win over Brisbane in their NRL trial match in Mackay.

The match was locked at 6-all well into the second half, before the Cowboys scored twice late after returning Broncos coach Wayne Bennett had emptied his bench to give the younger players a taste of the action.

Despite the loss, strong form of new recruits Adam Blair and James Gavet and solid performances from Alex Glenn, injury returnee Mitchell Dodds and youngster Tom Opacic will have pleased Bennett.
