The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have announced that CEO Peter Jourdain will be leaving his position after four years at the helm of the NRL club.
Cowboys chairman Laurence Lancini confirmed that following the end of the 2014 season, discussions were held with Mr Jourdain regarding his future at the club considering he was only initially contracted for three years.
"We agreed that for 2015 and beyond, Peter would move back home to Sydney and the club would look to immediately recruit a new CEO to continue the momentum of ensuring we have a winning team and a great club," Mr Lancini said.
"Peter has done a very good job during his tenure as CEO of the Cowboys and, in particular, has grown the commercial and community aspects of the club.
"Peter is well regarded by the staff and players at the Cowboys. He has brought a strong financial discipline to our club and has helped grow revenues and membership during the past four years."
The chairman placed on the record his appreciation to Peter and his wife Helen for their commitment to the Cowboys and the region.
Mr Jourdain has agreed to stay in the CEO role until a suitable replacement is recruited.
He will then return to Sydney to pursue new opportunities.
Mr Jourdain said he has mixed emotions about his impending departure from Townsville.
"I am proud of what we have achieved at the Cowboys, especially making the finals in each of the four years I have been here and growing our membership base," he said.
"The board, staff and players have been excellent to work with and I will miss the excitement of being part of home games here in Townsville.
"I’m sure the 20th anniversary year will yield more excellent results and new leadership will introduce fresh ideas and different perspectives to the club and to its role in both the business and social communities in the north."
The Cowboys board has commenced the process to recruit a new chief executive to be in place before the start of the 2015 NRL season.
