The North Queensland Cowboys have opened the scoresheet with new feeder club Townsville Blackhawks with a 24-12 trial win in front of a rain-soaked crowd at Jack Manski Oval in Townsville.

The Cowboys took the win despite trailing 12-10 at half-time, with a second-half try to Kyle Feldt putting the NRL side in front for the first time.

Late tries to NYC players Andrew Niemoeller and Viliame Kikau stretched out North Queensland's lead as the wet conditions made ball control a nightmare.
