Dragons lock Jack de Belin is staying positive despite fracturing his wrist during pre-season training.
The 25-year-old will have to avoid contact and wrestling training for the next month, having recently undergone surgery on the scaphoid injury.
De Belin's injury occurred when he fell over during a training drill and stuck his arm out to soften the landing.
The Country Origin representative will now concentrate purely on his fitness once the Dragons recommence pre-season training next week.
"The scans didn't find anything initially but it still felt a bit funny so I had another one and it showed I fractured my scaphoid," De Belin told Dragons TV.
"I'll only be out for a month or so and while there's no good time to be injured it's still pre-season. I'll have plenty of time to get it right again."
Meanwhile, De Belin has admitted he has stepped up during the off-season into a leadership role at the Red V.
His newfound role came as a result of the likes of Josh Dugan, Gareth Widdop and Jason Nightingale missing pre-season training after representing their respective countries at the Four Nations.
Only Nightingale has been at the club longer than De Belin following the retirement of former skipper Ben Creagh and Mitch Rein's exit to the Penrith Panthers.
"It's kind of funny in that sense. I still see myself as one of the younger fellas but when I've looked around this pre-season there aren't many who have been at the club longer than me," De Belin said.
"So I've really enjoyed growing into a leadership role. I think it really suits me, my personality and demeanour."
