Dogs dominance - NRL Daily

The Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs collected nine awards at the 2012 Dally M’s, including Coach of the Year for Des Hasler and Player of the Year for Ben Barba, but all that recognition will mean little if they can’t defeat reigning premiers Manly, who won just one Dally M award, this Friday at ANZ Stadium.

Tonight on NRL Daily, hosts John Gibbs and Trent Barrett review rugby league’s night of nights that was heavily dominated by the Bulldogs.

“It was a Bulldogs Benefit night,” said Gibbs. “But if they don’t win the comp it will be of little comfort.

“They deserved it because they’ve totally dominated the comp. The irony of Ben Barba getting the prestigious honour of best fullback in the game is that he hasn’t represented Queensland and as long as Billy Slater and Greg Inglis are around he may have to wait even longer.”

Trent Barrett was also not surprised of the Bulldogs success at the Dally Ms.

“They’ve been the most consistent team all season and the most exciting,” said Barrett. “It will be a big test for them this Friday against the Sea Eagles.

“They have to manage the come down from last night’s successes and one thing working in their favour is the presence of Des Hasler.”

Manly will be prepared and ready to go because they’ve been there and done it before, he said. “I can’t wait for Friday night, it’s going to be a cracker!”

Also on tonight’s show we start the countdown of the top 30 players of the year and take a look at the road to the finals for Melbourne and South Sydney.
