DT Market Watch: Round 15

Let’s take a look at those players you should be investing in, holding or letting go, as well as some of the better captaincy options for Round 15.

The tackling machine has hit his straps over the past few weeks, with scores of 66 and 59 in his last two starts. With the loss of Papalii to the QLD Origin side, Fensom will no doubt look to get more involved in both defence and attack, with all signs pointing towards a big return against Wests Tigers. The Raiders’ second and last bye of the season comes in Round 18, which is a multi-bye week for those head-to-head players. If you’re ready to upgrade to a premium 2RF, Fensom is your man, at a very reasonable price.

With many of the game’s premium halves missing this week through Origin or byes, Reynolds shapes up as a very good option. A pinpoint goal kicker who has led the Rabbitohs around the park all season, the Souths halfback also gets through his fair share of defence, averaging 20 tackles a game. As the competition’s leading point scorer there’s always attacking DT points there, and with Origin seemingly off the radar and a bye in Round 18, Reynolds could be the HLF solution and your POD as the Rabbitohs charge towards the finals.

 

The powerful centre is enjoying some of the best form of his career in 2013, with his DT points return reflecting this. If he’s in your side, don’t hit the trade button just yet. Idris is a premium centre that can win you a head to head fixture. That BE of 67 doesn’t look pretty, but he’s every chance of matching that this week. Unless you’re considering a sideways trade (which isn’t advisable), don’t offload Idris this week.

Injury (more specifically injury early in games) has hurt Fulton’s numbers this year, but if his return against the Broncos is anything to go by, you shouldn’t be selling this tacking machine yet. In a forward pack that looked all at sea, Fulton wracked up a lazy 45 tackles, including 3 one-on-ones. With Robbie Farah missing he also takes over some play-making (as was seen when he set up the Tigers’ first, and has a knack of finding a try on the fringes off Benji Marshall. 

Currently in over 34% of sides, Burgess has been a revelation this season. Suspended for two weeks, he won’t be back until Round 17 at the earliest. With the multi-bye rounds already decimating our squads, now is hardly the time to carry any suspended players, particularly if you’re chasing overall glory. If you don’t seem him as a long term keeper, a trade to brother Tom might be a short-term fix if you have plenty of trades up your sleeve and are looking to make some cash. They are twins, after all.

Has been a handy cash cow for those who got in at his starting price of $161,500, but despite forwards missing through Origin and injury, James’ involvement has still been quite minimal in recent weeks. After a 52 against the Broncos in Round 10, he’s produced scores of 17, 26 and 19, and in the past 8 weeks has topped that 26 just twice. With Ashley Harrison dropped from the Queensland team and Dave Taylor hitting his straps, it seems unlikely James will be playing massive minutes even with Bird and Myles out, so it’s time to sell up and get a premium 2RF.
