Titans half Kane Elgey has been named the 2014 Holden Cup Player of the Year.

Gold Coast Titans half Kane Elgey has defied his team's lowly finish on the ladder to be named the Holden Cup Under-20s Player of the Year for 2014.

A product of the Tugun Seahawks and a graduate of the famed Palm Beach Currumbin school, Elgey was named in the Holden Cup Team of the Year and recently penned a one-year contract to join the Titans' NRL squad in 2015.

Elgey recently received the Titans' under-20s players' player award where he spoke of the added responsibility handed to him by coach Ben Woolf as a key factor in his development as a player this season.

Although they finished the season in 15th position, the Titans were competitive in the majority of games they played and even knocked off the high-flying Eels late in the season.
