Wests Tigers say captain Robbie Farah is expected back at training on Friday after being given time off by coach Mick Potter.

Farah was a noticeable absentee from Tigers training at Concord Oval on Wednesday when the NRL squad returned from a two-day break, following their loss to St George Illawarra on Sunday.

"I was more than happy for Robbie to have today off training considering the circumstances," Potter said in a statement. "He will return later in the week."

The NSW State of Origin hooker has made headlines over the past week as pressure continues to mount on Potter.

Farah hit out at former Queensland great Gorden Tallis when he revealed details of a private conversation more than a year ago between the pair.

Tallis said on radio that Farah had said Potter was not fit to be an NRL coach.

Farah reacted angrily to the claim and said Potter had the support of the playing group.

A Tigers spokesman said Farah had been given Wednesday's session off by Potter in an attempt to clear his mind ahead of the side's clash with Melbourne Storm at Campbelltown Stadium on Monday.
