Sharks prop Andrew Fifita was successful in downgrading his dangerous throw charge at the NRL judiciary on Wednesday night, meaning he will be suspended for two weeks.
It was a positive result for the NSW and Australia representative, who could have been rubbed out for six weeks if the original grading remained.
Also fronting the judiciary on Wednesday night, Dragons forward Tyson Frizell has been suspended for two weeks, unsuccessfully challenging his grade five careless high tackle charge.
Looking to downgrade the charge, Frizell would have missed just the one week if he was successful but will now miss a fortnight for his shot on Bulldogs prop Tim Browne during the Red V's 31-6 win over Canterbury in Round 6.
Props Sam Moa and Jarrod Wallace were charged from Friday night's Broncos-Roosters clash. Both would have escaped suspension with an early plea if not for each player's carryover points, with the pair each to miss one week.
Eels duo Nathan Peats and Manu Ma'u were both charged for their challenge on Titans second-rower Dave Taylor, but neither will be suspended after taking the early guilty plea. From the same game, Gold Coast prop Eddy Pettybourne will miss one week for a careless high tackle on Darcy Lussick.
Warriors pair Ryan Hoffman and Sam Lisone (both grade one dangerous throw) will also be free to play after entering an early plea, likewise Sea Eagles forward Jamie Buhrer, who was cited for a dangerous throw on Panthers prop Nigel Plum.
