Titans recruit Nathan Peats watched on as his new side defeated the Roosters.

New Titan Nathan Peats has said that the positive words of former Rabbitohs teammates Chris McQueen and Eddy Pettybourne played an important role in his decision to join the Gold Coast in the wake of the Parramatta salary cap scandal.

Having arrived in Queensland on Sunday Peats was a frustrated spectator as the Titans took on the Roosters at Cbus Super Stadium on Monday night but will almost certainly play his first game for his new club against the Panthers on Sunday.

Speaking to Titans TV on Monday, Peats said the endorsement of the Titans as a club from McQueen, Pettybourne and former Indigenous All Stars teammate Greg Bird gave him the confidence to make the move north.

"I spoke to them briefly during the week and they were telling me it was a really good club and the coaching staff was really good as well," said Peats, who arrived on the Gold Coast with his partner Jade and 14-month-old son Lleyton.

"I spoke to 'Birdy' as well before I came up here and everyone has given the place a wrap and I can understand why.

"He'd heard that I was thinking about coming up and had a brief chat about a few things and went from there.

"It's obviously good having a few ex-teammates and blokes that I know up here made the decision a bit easier as well."
