Reigning champions All Saints College Maitland will go head-to-head with Eagle Vale High School tomorrow in the NSW final of the GIO Schoolboy Trophy.

The rematch of last year’s 32-28 Grand Final will kick-off at 11:30 am at Leichhardt Oval.

Both teams are heading into the final undefeated but Brad Melville, coach of All Saints College, is confident his team can win back to back titles.

“Our form has been steadily improving over the year and we are playing pretty well at the moment,” Melville said.

“If we play at our best, we are very confident that we can win.”

All Saints made history by becoming the first Hunter Valley team to win the GIO Schoolboy Trophy.

“We are very proud of our country heritage and to be the first team to win from our region was a great honour,” Melville said.

“The team took great confidence out of last year’s win and they are keen to prove themselves again against quality opposition.”

However the boys from Eagle Vale are not prepared to go down without a fight, etching for a win after such a narrow defeat last year.

“It will mean a lot to the boy’s if we can get the win on Wednesday, this will be our 3rd time in four years of trying since the competition changed its format back in 2010,” Eagle Vale coach Kent Lawrence said.

“As the saying goes ‘you have to lose a grand final before you win one’ and I am hoping this will be our year.”

Both teams have learnt from last year’s final and are focused on ways of improving to secure themselves a victory.

Both teams will sporting several representative players with the game expected to be as as fierce as ever when both teams battle déjà vu to be named the winners of the prestigious Schoolboy’s Trophy.
