Kiwis and Broncos back-rower Alex Glenn will miss selection in the season-ending Four Nations tournament after undergoing surgery to repair damage to his AC joint on Wednesday morning.
Glenn had been carrying the injury throughout Brisbane's 2016 NRL campaign, and while the timing of the operation will cost him a chance to return to the New Zealand set up, he won't miss the start of the 2017 season.
"It is a three-to-four month recovery for an operation of this sort," Broncos high performance manager Jeremy Hickmans told broncos.com.au.
"That means he would be available in the first few weeks of the trials, so he shouldn't miss any time from games there."
Brisbane's season ended in the second week of the finals in a heartbreaking extra time loss to rivals North Queensland.
