Kevin Gordon scores a try after the half-time siren during the Titans' Round 14 meeting with the Bulldogs.

Gold Coast Titans officials have confirmed that one of the club's longest serving players, Kevin Gordon, has played his last game for the club.

Despite having two years still to run on his contract, a chronic hip injury will keep Gordon out of rugby league for at least the short term but his time as a Titan is definitely at an end.

For the first time since the club's second year in the NRL pre-season, training started on Monday without Gordon as a member of the broader playing squad having started his career in the under-20s competition in 2008 where he was named in the NYC team of the year at the end of the season.

Gordon made his NRL debut with the Titans in Round 3, 2009 and has since played 118 games for the club scoring 58 tries, second only behind David Mead on the Titans' all-time leading try-scorers list.

Ongoing hip problems kept the 25-year-old to just six games in 2015 and coach Neil Henry said it was a shame that Gordon's time at the club had to finish in such a way.

"It's unfortunate that Kev's career looks like it has ended prematurely because of a degenerative hip condition that has really given him ongoing problems, particularly the past couple of seasons, which affected his agility and ability to stay on the paddock," said Henry.

"On his day he was an outstanding winger and a great contributor to this club, and a real personality as well.

"He can be proud of his NRL achievements which include over 100 games and 50 tries for the Titans, and I’m sure he will put his abundant energy into other areas."

Since the end of the season Gordon has been travelling throughout Europe, his most recent social media post coming from Loch Ness in Scotland four days ago.

One of the great characters of the NRL, Gordon had his own YouTube song sensation ("Get it to Gordon") and his most recent claims to fame have been his two "Magic Carpet Ride" videos on Instagram.

I can show you the world... #magic #carpet #aladdin or #jafar ?
