Titans forward Ashley Harrison has today been called into the NRL All Stars side in place of injured Gold Coast teammate David Taylor for next month’s 2013 Harvey Norman Rugby League All Stars in Brisbane.

Titans medical staff have withdrawn Taylor from the representative fixture due to an ongoing Achilles tendinopathy injury he has been battling during the pre-season.

He is expected to be restricted to only limited game time during the club’s pre-season trial matches and was deemed unfit to take his place for the fourth annual All Stars clash to be played at Suncorp Stadium for the first time on February 9.

Taylor was named in the NRL All Stars on Wednesday as the highest ranking Titans player voted for by Rugby League fans. He finished narrowly ahead of Nate Myles, who was also withdrawn this week due to his recovery from recent elbow surgery.

Harrison was chosen by All Stars Coach Wayne Bennett as the replacement, with the Queensland Origin forward to make his second appearance for the All Stars.

“It’s obviously disappointing for the guys that aren’t available, but I’m really excited to be involved with the All Stars again,’’ said Harrison.

“It’s a great concept and a really enjoyable week so I’m proud to receive the call-up.’’

The Harvey Norman Rugby League All Stars is supported by Tourism and Events Queensland as part of a growing calendar of sporting, cultural, regional and business events across Queensland.
