It won't be quiet on the western front when the Townsville Blackhawks whirl down to North Ipswich Reserve to take on the Jets in Round 2 of the Intrust Super Cup.
Coming off a 30-16 opening round victory over Mackay Cutters, the ISC's latest franchise will tackle the Walker brothers' Ipswich Jets on NAB Defence Force Appreciation Day this Sunday which will be shown live throughout Queensland on Channel Nine.
One game that won't be taking place this weekend is the clash between the Northern Pride and Sunshine Coast Falcons in Cairns due to the onset of a severe weather system in Far North Queensland.
Both the Jets and the Blackhawks will wear camouflage jerseys to celebrate the work that the defence force does in their respective communities.
Townsville had gone without ISC representation since 2007 and the Blackhawks wasted little time in demonstrating that they'll be no pushovers this season with their dismantling of the Cutters.
The Blackhawks scored four tries in the opening 30 minutes at Jack Manski Oval with 20-year-old former Titan Jahrome Hughes becoming the club's first try-scorer.
They'll face a sterner test this weekend when they take on the Jets, who have maintained the majority of their squad which finished fifth last season.
One notable addition to the Jets' squadron is former Queensland Origin star Chris Walker, who at 35 is playing in his 50th ISC match with brothers Ben and Shane coaching their 100th match together.
The Jets will also be able to call upon Broncos winger Daniel Vidot, who played at prop in the Jets 18-16 opening round loss to Wynnum Manly Seagulls.
Former Broncos assistant coach and current Blackhawks' mentor Kristian Woolf has a platoon of NRL talent to choose from for Sunday's clash.
Kyle Feldt, Zac Santo, Tom Humble, Anthony Mitchell, Ricky Thorby and Neville Costigan are just some of the players named to take on the Jets.
In other Round 2 action Saturday's action sees Souths Logan Magpies and CQ Capras travel to Miriam Vale's Gary Larson Oval and the Cutters will host Tweed Heads Seagulls in Mackay.
Apart from the Jets-Blackhawks blockbuster, there are three more matches on Sunday to close out Round 2.
Local rivals Wynnum Manly and Easts Tigers will renew hostilities at BMD Kougari Oval with kick-off scheduled for 1.45pm.
The Seagulls and Tigers locked horns four times last season with Wynnum Manly winning twice during the regular season.
However, it would be Easts who had the last laugh when they won both the qualifying final and preliminary final against Wynnum on route to their grand final loss to the Pride.
In the remaining fixtures, Norths host the Burleigh Bears at Bishop Park while the Redcliffe Dolphins make the daunting trip to Kalabond Oval for their clash against the PNG Hunters.
