Storm coach Craig Bellamy has voiced his opinion on the mid-season shoulder charge penalty change.

The depth of the Melbourne Storm will be tested against the Knights this weekend, with outside backs Curtis Scott and Marika Koroibete both missing the game.

Scott fractured his fibula in the Storm's loss to the Sharks on Monday, and Koroibete will miss the match on Saturday through suspension after he was found guilty of tripping Sharks player Chad Townsend.

This leaves Bellamy short of outside backs once again, and the short five-day turnaround between games makes it even harder for the coach to find a replacement.

"We've got a couple of young guys, and probably a couple of forwards that could play there too," Bellamy said.

"Obviously it's a short turnaround this week so we haven't got too much time to make a decision on it, so we'll look at a couple of things today and go from there."

While Bellamy said he had a couple of players in mind to fill the voids, he would also factor in the opposition when making the call.

"I've probably got a bit of an idea, but having said that I'll be looking at a couple of different things as well and seeing what we think, with half an eye on the opposition and half on us and what we need to do this week," he said.

The Storm face a winless Knights side looking to break their duck this season, and Newcastle will take some confidence into this game hoping to replicate their win against the Storm at AAMI Park last season.

"I think they've got some really good structures and they are putting a lot of passes on, and their attack has been really good this year, so that'll be something we have to defend well against," Bellamy said.

"They've got two really good halves that guide them, so we'll need to be on our game."

After a poor showing on Monday night against the Sharks, Bellamy admitted that while they'll do some scouting work on the Knights they'll be more focused on righting their own wrongs from Monday's loss.

"We'll have a quick look at them, but after what happened on Monday night, we'll focus a bit more on us this week, and a couple things we need to fix up quickly," Bellamy said.

"We were definitely concerned with a couple things on Monday, and whether it was just a bad night out I'm not too sure. You could put it down to it being a bad night, but if you don't look at it and practice it, it'll probably happen again. There were a few things execution and effort-wise that we'll look to fix up."

Both sides are coming off five-day breaks before their match on Saturday, and while Bellamy isn't a fan of the scheduling, he knows there's not much they can do about it now.

"You'd like that they don't happen at all, but it is what it is," Bellamy said.

"At the end of the day, teams just have to cop that and fare the best they can, and hopefully perform well on the weekend. There's not much use getting down about it, it's just a matter of preparing as best you can."
