Last played: Bulldogs v Knights

It was ugly, but a win pays two competition points regardless of whether it's pretty or not and the Knights weren't worried about how their 18-12 win over the Bulldogs looked at Mackay Stadium in Round 17.

It was the second year the Bulldogs had decided to take a home game deep into the north of Queensland, but they weren't able to repeat their success of 2012, when they beat the Storm there.

There was never much in the game. Twice the Knights led by a try in the first half and twice the Bulldogs equalised, with the two teams going to halftime locked at 8-8.

The Bulldogs took the lead for the first time through a try from centre Josh Morris four minutes into the second half, but they weren't able to hang on.

Knights hooker Danny Buderus ran from dummy half to score in the 60th minute and halfback Tyrone Roberts came up with the only conversion from either side on the day to put them back in front, 14-12.

Second-rower Chris Houston crossed for his second try 11 minutes from fulltime to increase the lead to six points, and the Knights held the desperate Bulldogs out in the frantic last few minutes to clinch the win.
