The Broncos were missing nine players to State of Origin duty when they bravely recorded one of their best wins of 2012, in Round 14.
The Roosters had some players out due to representative commitments and injury as well, but the Broncos were worse off. It didn't stop them though, and the latest edition of the "baby Broncos" went on to win 40-22, the score blowing out in the last five minutes after the Roosters had mostly kept in touch.
Broncos halfback Peter Wallace was the oldest player in his side that day, at 26, and he took it upon himself to show the way with a tremendous display.
There was a lot of drama surrounding decisions by the match officials, including one incident in which referees Matt Cecchin and Adam Devcich made opposite calls before Broncos winger Lachlan Maranta was allowed to proceed downfield in what ended up as the lead-up to a try. But while the Roosters were dumbfounded by the officiating, they admitted they didn't deserve to win on the day.
Wallace racked up 16 points, from a try and six goals from seven attempts in the seven-tries-to-four win.
Stats-wise, Brisbane dominated possession 54 per cent to 46 per cent and made double the Roosters’ four line-breaks. Incredibly they missed 40 tackles to the Roosters’ 32.
