Queensland Origin captain Darren Lockyer will become the equal most-capped player in Origin history when he leads the Maroons into his last State of Origin Series at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium next week.
Lockyer, 34, who will equal former Queensland legend Allan Langer's record of 34 Origin appearances, is set to break many records in his swansong season as the Maroons chase a sixth successive Origin series win.
It is believed that Lockyer plans to instruct the XXXX Queensland side that was named today, not to let the emotion of his final Origin series overshadow the job at hand against a very hungry and determined new-look NSW VB Blues team.
The Queensland team was named today and features two debutants, while NSW named their team on Sunday night, selecting five Origin newcomers.
Lockyer, who made his Origin debut in 1998, has named his top five favourite Origin moments so far:
1. 2006 game 3 - winning in the final moments
2. 2001 game 3 - Allan Langer's return
3. 1998 game 1 - debut and win on the bell
4. 2010 series - winning 3-0 for the first time
5. 2001 game 1 - last game at Lang Park.
Lockyer will be available for an EXCLUSIVE live online chat at NRL.com/Origin
on Wednesday (May 18) from 10.30am.
