Manly captain Jamie Lyon has praised the performances of his side's playmakers following the Sea Eagles 30-10 victory over the Newcastle Knights at Brookvale Oval.

Daly Cherry-Evans was instrumental for the Sea Eagles, notching up two linebreaks, two linebreak assists, four tackle busts, a try assist and a try of his own.

"He had a really great game," Lyon said of Cherry-Evans.

"It was a really experienced knock, he led from the front. He's good to play outside of and full credit to him he just played a great game."

Despite being named to play second row, Tom Symonds also ramped up his playmaking duties to partner Cherry-Evans in the halves.

"Tom Symonds jumped in in the halves there down the left side and I thought he was tremendous, he did a lot of work and just did what was needed," Lyon said.

"He really got us on the front foot and he's organisation and everything like that was top notch."

And while the Manly attack looked rejuvenated off the back of a week off and some new combinations, so too did the pitch they were playing on.

51 days after hosting the Bulldogs to widespread condemnation for the state of the pitch, Brookvale Oval looked a treat on Sunday afternoon.

"It was a good track, nice and hard and pretty fast, I thought they did a great job getting it ready after that downpour so full credit to the guys looking after it," Lyon said.

Lyon said it was a pleasure to return to the home ground and was delighted his side could reward the 10,000 fans that showed up with a good win.

"It's always good to win especially at Brookie so two points and hopefully we'll get a few more down the track," he said.
