Newcastle's Sione Mata'utia was found guilty for a dangerous throw on Canberra's Shaun Fensom and has been suspended from playing the Warriors on Easter Monday.
Mata'utia's case took an hour to be heard and deliberated on Wednesday night with the prosecution successful in arguing all elements of a dangerous tackle were present despite the "careless" Mata'utia having no intent to cause injury.
Mata'utia's defence unsuccessfully argued that Knights hooker Tyler Randell had made a substantial contribution to Fensom being positioned below the horizontal.
On top of his week suspension the 19-year-old was left with 62 carryover points to his name. Mata'utia had been suspended for Round 1 of the season for a contrary conduct charge, which contributed to the loading of the dangerous throw charge. He said afterwards he respected the panel's decision.
Mata'utia's one-week ban came soon after Joey Leilua was found not guilty for contrary conduct on Dylan Napa.
