Raiders playmaker Josh McCrone has signed a two year contract extension with the club, which will see him remain at Canberra until the end of the 2016 season.
McCrone has played over 100 NRL games for Canberra since debuting for the club in 2009 and played twice for Country Origin.
McCrone said he was excited to announce he was staying in Canberra and said he believed the club was working towards a positive and successful future.
“I’m pleased to have my future secure here in Canberra and I look forward to building on the new culture that Ricky Stuart has started here in Canberra,” he said.
“A number of great players have re-signed so far this year and I believe we have a team who can improve and become a finals contender.”
Raiders CEO Don Furner the club was thrilled to have a junior extend his stay with the club and praised McCrone's versatility.
“Josh has played over 100 NRL matches for the Raiders and is one of the team’s most consistent performers,” he said.
“He moved here from Temora in Country NSW and played his junior football with the club, before making his NRL debut in 2009.
“He can play in the halves or at hooker and we see his role as an important one for the Raiders over the next two seasons.”
