Had Melbourne not defeated the minor premiers on Friday night they would be heading into a semi-final without their leading try-scorer and a depleted forward pack.
However they say you make your own luck, so instead of facing that daunting prospect they can afford to put up their feet up as the Cowboys and Sharks leave it all on the line to book a preliminary final road trip to AAMI Park.
While is may be a week off on the field for the Storm, behind closed doors it is all hands on deck in the medical room.
Marika Koroibete is nursing a lacerated Achilles while Jordan McLean continues to battle knee soreness.
Tim Glasby was also forced from the field with a knee injury, moments after he scored what proved to be the match-winning try at Allianz Stadium.
However greatest concern for Melbourne rests with Koroibete, who played no part in the second half of the qualifying final. Instead he emerged from the tunnel on crutches and watched the remainder of the game with his left foot heavily bandaged.
He later spent the night in hospital to reduce the threat of infection.
Koroibete has been a revelation for Melbourne, scoring a team-high 16 tries from 22 games this season.
The Fijian Flyer was back at the club on Wednesday but his coach remained tight lipped around the condition of his try-scoring machine.
"I'm not quite sure of his chances of playing or the percentages but it was a nasty old cut, he was pretty lucky in the end," Bellamy said.
"It is in a bad spot too as far as his running."
"I'm not quite sure how long we could have him not running and still play next week. I'm willing to give him up to the game if that works out OK but we will have to see if he's any chance at all later on next week.
"We've got a session [next] Wednesday so I imagine he will try and run then and we will just see what happens from there."
If form was anything to go by Melbourne could not be better placed. Their last three games have yielded wins against the competition's top three teams.
It does pose the worthwhile question as to whether the week off and subsequent break in momentum is indeed a help or a hindrance.
However given the current state of the medical room at AAMI Park the answer to that question is an obvious one in the eyes of Bellamy.
"I know that if we were playing this week we'd be playing without two or three of our players," he said.
"We've just got to try and make the best of having the week off and try and keep that momentum going even though we're not playing a game this weekend."
"We've been really strict in our planning for this week and next week, hopefully we've got it right but I suppose we will find out next Saturday night."
Melbourne will host the winner of the Cowboys-Sharks semi-final to be played this Saturday night at 1300SMILES Stadium.
