North Queensland fullback Michael Morgan has been rewarded for a stellar 2014 season with a three-year contract extension, making him a Cowboy until the end of 2018.
The 23-year-old Townsville junior was entering free agency as one of the NRL's hottest commodities after earning invites to Queensland Maroons and Kangaroos Four Nations camps last year.
He joins big-ticket item Jason Taumalolo as players who have re-committed themselves to North Queensland in the past few weeks.
"I'm really excited and happy with my decision. There's a good group of boys that we got here for another couple of years," Morgan said.
"There's been a lot of loyalty shown by the boys at the moment so I wasn't looking to leave I'm happy here. And Greeny is keen for me to stay around which is good to know."
Morgan made his first grade debut against the Sydney Roosters in 2010 and has played 58 games for North Queensland.
The 24-year-old was one of the Cowboys' leading try scorers last season with 10, and slipped seamlessly into the fullback role left by club legend Matty Bowen.
Morgan made an instant impression with fans and players alike, and has proved to be an important cog in the North Queensland attack, ranking second at the club for both try assists and line break assists through 2014.
He was also voted by Cowboys members as the 2014 club player of the year.
"It's important that we keep young players like Michael at the Cowboys," Cowboys football general manager Peter Parr said.
"He is a dynamic player and we are excited to see Michael develop into a great footballer at the Cowboys."
