New South Wales Origin fullback Matt Moylan didn't watch James Tedesco play over the weekend and has no plans to in the future either.
After a gruelling two games in four days which saw Moylan make his Origin debut before backing it up against the Storm in Melbourne, the Panthers skipper opted to avoid rugby league thereafter – for the next couple of days at least.
What he missed was Wests Tigers star Tedesco make his return from a shoulder injury against the Roosters and record eight tackle breaks, 145 metres and a try.
While Tedesco himself conceded that his shoulder complaint couldn't have come at a worse time, Moylan was happy to focus on his "own backyard".
"I was a bit tired coming back from Melbourne so I didn't watch any footy on Sunday once I got home. I tried to get away from it because with Origin camp and travelling to Melbourne I was around footy the whole time," Moylan said.
"I'm also just focused on what I can control and just go from there. I'll just worry about making sure I'm doing everything right by Penrith."
Moylan's Origin debut was a mixed bag where uncharacteristic errors were combated with several hard-running kick returns.
What could prove a blessing in disguise for the 24-year-old was his ability to right some of his Origin wrongs in the space of 96 hours up against Maroons and Storm halfback Cooper Cronk's seasoned kicking game.
"I knew [Origin] was going to be physical and intense leading into the game and it definitely lived up to those expectations. My mistake under the high ball was obviously frustrating though," Moylan said.
"As a fullback your job is to diffuse those situations but I've been working on that over the past few weeks and was tested out again by Cooper (Cronk) so it's something I'm confident with moving forward."
Moylan held no concerns either over the mental battle representative players face in terms of juggling their focus between Origin and the NRL.
A win is the overarching goal for Moylan despite having Tedesco breathing down his neck as he gears up to face a Sea Eagles outfit missing veteran quartet Jamie Lyon, Steve Matai, Daly Cherry-Evans and Brenton Lawrence.
"Origin obviously has a big build-up but coming back for Penrith, once I was here training with the team it was pretty easy. I wanted to do my job at the Panthers – there was never an option whether I wasn't going to play," Moylan said of last weekend.
"If I'm to be picked again then it's going to come off the back of a good performance so my focus is here at Penrith, playing well and getting the two points this weekend.
"We're sitting on the fringe of the eight so it's an important one for us to win. They're obviously missing a lot of classy players but we're expecting a physical Brookvale battle – they always grow another leg out there."
