Having served as the Titans co-captain alongside Greg Bird for the past two seasons, it was confirmed on Monday that Nate Myles would continue in his capacity as captain but without Bird by his side.
Bird's co-captaincy tenure was stripped from him following an incident in Byron Bay in December on the day after his wedding for which he was issued an infringement notice by local police.
With a host of new faces at the club and a group of youngsters emerging to have their shot at a spot in the NRL, new Titans coach Neil Henry had few options at his disposal and saw no reason to change the status quo.
Nate Myles was the Titans' leader in 2013 and 2014 and will be so again in 2015, the final year of his current contract with the club.
"We haven't changed anything up at the moment. Nate and I talked about it and as far as I'm concerned, there's no official announcement, but the status quo stays," Henry said.
"Birdy is not a co-captain any more so Nate Myles will be captain of the side."
Myles has played 59 games for the Titans since joining the club in 2012 with his management recently opening negotiations with Titans hierarchy about staying on the Gold Coast beyond 2015.
Awarded the Ron McAuliffe Medal as Queensland's player of the 2014 State of Origin Series, Myles has matured into an uncompromising but inspirational leader at the club and someone the Titans need to retain in this current transitional period.
Ruled out of the Rugby League All Stars match next week due to shoulder surgery, Myles is expected to have only one hit-out - a trial against the Cowboys on February 21 - prior to the Titans' Round 1 clash with Wests Tigers on March 7.
