Rugby league participants at all levels in New South Wales are set to be the big winners after the NSWRL board posted a surplus of more than $500,000 for 2014.

NSWRL Chairman Dr George Peponis announced the good news on behalf of the board as they released the published accounts at the annual general meeting in Sydney on Friday.

"The NSWRL board is proud to present an annual report for 2014 which clearly shows the continuing growth of the game in the birthplace of rugby league in Australia," Dr Peponis said.

"Coach Laurie Daley and the NSW VB Blues did the State proud at the highest levels of the game but the work in development and with our pathways programs gives us a great platform for the future.

"Our staff and the many volunteers throughout the State who continue to give so generously of their time should be very proud of the work they do to make rugby league such a wonderful sport for participants, officials and fans alike."

Members of the NSWRL received reports from NSW VB Blues coach Laurie Daley in relation to the success of the team in winning the 2014 State of Origin series and also to the future plans for the high-performance unit.

The charity work of former NSW VB Blues captain Brad Fittler was also highlighted with all monies raised from his annual 'Hogs For The Homeless Tour' going to assist Fr Chris Riley's Youth Off The Streets in the battle against homelessness.

In recognition of the great contribution they have made to the game, it was also announced that long-serving Balmain, NSW and Australian Rugby League official John Chalk and former Cronulla Sharks first grade captain and administrator John McMartin were both awarded life membership of the NSWRL.
