Richard Kennar during his time at the Melbourne Storm.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have signed outside back Richie Kennar on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old made his NRL debut in 2015 for the Melbourne Storm before moving to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in 2017.

The Samoan-born Kennar is an Australian Schoolboys representative who adds depth to the Rabbitohs at centre and wing, new Souths coach Anthony Siebold said.

"I've worked with Richie previously, spending three years with him at the Melbourne Storm, watching him debut as a 19-year-old," Coach Seibold said.

"He will add depth to our outside backs but we think he can challenge for a wing spot in our NRL backline.

"He's a big, explosive ball carrier and this is a big pre-season coming up for Richie.

"He needs to work hard and put in the effort required and if he does that then he can certainly put himself in the reckoning for a wing position in our NRL side."
