Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds has hosed down rumours linking him with a move away from Redfern at the end of the season.
Speculation the premiership-winning No.7 would play elsewhere in 2017 intensified on Wednesday night when Reynolds's NSW Blues coach Laurie Daley told Fox Sports' NRL 360 that he thought the playmaker would be a good fit for the Parramatta Eels.
But Reynolds – who is contracted at the Rabbitohs for next season – said that wasn't the case.
"I've got no idea [where the rumours are coming from]. The media keeps bringing it up. I don't know anyone in the media and I just talk to you guys on these days," he said on Thursday.
"That's Laurie's opinion, and everyone is entitled to an opinion. I'm sure there are many people out there who think I'd be suited somewhere else, but that's just his opinion. He's got a lot of knowledge about the game and you've got to respect that.
"I grew up in the area and I've lived here all my life. I'm still contracted here for next year and I haven't spoken to anyone. They're just rumours at the moment."
While Reynolds looks set to stay at the Bunnies for at least another 12 months, it's a different story for halves partner Luke Keary who has inked a two-year deal with local rivals the Roosters.
The pair have formed a close bond over the years and helped end the Rabbitohs' 43-year premiership drought in 2014 with a 30-6 win over the Bulldogs.
Keary hasn't played since Round 21 due to a hamstring injury and is unlikely to feature in either of South Sydney's remaining games.
"He's still in rehab and working on the body. It's obviously not the best way to finish the season, but he's still in high spirits and he's still good to have around the place," Reynolds said.
"I don't know how good his body is at the moment but I'd definitely love to see him out there [again]. He's had a lot to do with the club over the years and he deserves to go out the way he wants.
"He's a chirpy little bugger and I've got a good relationship with him so I'm sure we’ll continue that.
"It'll be said to see him go, but at the same time he's got a new opportunity and I'm sure he's looking forward to it. It's not the end of our relationship; I'm sure we'll still keep in touch, and I'll still take his money in golf."
In some good news for South Sydney fans, Reynolds confirmed he would be a certain starter for Sunday's game against the Knights despite failing to finish each of his last two starts.
The 26-year-old lasted 46 minutes against the Warriors before succumbing to a hamstring injury, and only managed 25 minutes against the Sharks before leaving the field after a head clash with teammate Hymel Hunt.
"As soon as I got up I felt sweet…I felt fine. I ran off the field and thought I'd be right to go back on but the doctor looked at the tape and said it wouldn't be a good idea. That's medical advice and you have to back their decision," he said.
"My head's feeling good, there was no headache after the game so it's all fine.
"Last week against the Warriors was a bit of a niggle, but head knocks you can't really help in the game. The body is feeling good at the moment, the niggles are all gone and I'm just looking forward to putting in a good performance."
