Premiership winning coach Trent Robinson has extended his current deal with the Roosters, signing on to the club until the end of 2017.
The 37-year-old enjoyed a storied debut season in charge of the Tricolours, taking them from a 13th placed finish in 2012 to a minor premiership and an NRL title within 12 months, before backing up that effort with another minor premiership in 2014.
Having originally signed with the Chooks in late 2012 on a deal worth $250,000 a season, Robinson's latest deal is expected to catapult him into the realms of the game's highest paid coaches given his immediate success in the role and his standing as one of the most forthright thinkers in the game.
"The Sydney Roosters are a special club and I’m really pleased to extend my time here," Robinson said.
"The history and tradition, and most importantly, the people associated with the Roosters – from the board of directors, players, staff, sponsors and members – make me feel very proud to continue my role with the club.
"It’s a privilege to represent the Eastern Suburbs that no one at the club takes for granted, and there is a committed team here, on and off the field, who will keep working hard to hopefully ensure success for many years to come."
Roosters chairman Nick Politis declared Robinson one of the most astute young coaches going around, and acknowledged the culture he has fostered at Bondi since his arrival two years ago.
"Trent is one of the best young coaches in our game and it’s wonderful to have him locked in for at least the next three years," Politis said.
"Not only is Trent an incredibly astute coach, he importantly understands and respects the history of our proud club and has cultivated a strong culture among the playing group and everyone associated with the Sydney Roosters."
