Having both represented New South Wales in State of Origin and won the 2013 premiership in their time at the Roosters, off-contract duo James Maloney and Daniel Tupou are keen to remain at the club despite not receiving an offer as of yet.
While forwards Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Dylan Napa have re-signed until the end of the 2017 season at the club, Maloney and Tupou both said they are yet to hear anything from the Roosters.
Hopeful of re-signing, Maloney knew nothing of an apparent offer from the Sea Eagles – who are obviously chasing new halves following news Daly Cherry-Evans and Kieran Foran are leaving the club at season's end.
"I haven't heard anything about [getting an offer from Manly], obviously there's been a bit of speculation but I haven't heard anything," Maloney told NRL.com.
"Everyone keeps asking me [about my future] but I've left it with my manager. I think he's talking too to the Roosters at the moment to see what we can come up with here and what sort of deal they have and then we'll go from there.
"Ideally I'd love to stay, that would be my first preference, but I suppose we'll just have to see what we can come up with. That's where contract negotiations are at currently and that's literally all I know."
Tupou, like his teammate, is playing the waiting game and is adamant he wants to stay at the club which gave him his initial shot at the big time.
Admitting he feels indebted to the Roosters and all they have giving him, Tupou isn't excited by the idea of leaving.
"My priority is to stay. I love the club and they have done so much for me. I love the culture here and just being here is something special," Tupou told NRL.com.
"They brought me in and gave me a shot. Even just to train with the first-grade squad meant a lot so they have played a massive role in my life. It feels like I owe them a lot because they have done so much for me and my family.
"But obviously if it doesn't work out the way I want it too then I guess I'll have to look around for a new club though hopefully that doesn't happen."
Maloney also holds the Roosters in high esteem when it comes to his rugby league achievements. The former Melbourne and Warriors playmaker said while he doesn't have any concerns over his future just yet, the comfort of the Roosters is something he will find difficult to leave behind.
"Ever since I've gotten here I've just felt very comfortable. I enjoy the bunch of boys here and I think it's a terrific group," Maloney said.
"I think the potential in the side to be successful is untapped. I love playing under Robbo [coach Trent Robinson] too, he's a tremendous coach so there are a lot of things and reasons for me to stay so that's the way I'm hoping it'll go.
"I'm hoping the deal they have in mind is something I'm happy with and we can get it done. I'm just hoping to come to an arrangement and it'll all work itself out."
