The Sydney Roosters will host a 'home' game in Adelaide in 2017 the club announced on Sunday morning.

The match will be played at one of the country's most iconic grounds – Adelaide Oval – and will be the first time that the Sydney Roosters have played in South Australia.

South Australian Tourism and Sport Minister Leon Bignell joined Roosters CEO John Lee, coach Trent Robinson and senior player Mitchell Aubusson, as well as NRL Head of Football Brian Canavan, to make the announcement at Adelaide Oval.

"This match is a fantastic win for South Australia and I would love to see it pave the way for Adelaide to host one of sport's most iconic rivalries – State of Origin," said the Hon. Leon Bignell MP.
