Melbourne captain Cameron Smith will become the most capped Storm player in history while teammate Billy Slater will play his 250th NRL match in Saturday night’s Telstra Premiership clash against Penrith at AAMI Park.

Smith, who today announced a new four-year deal with the Storm, will surpass the mark of 262 games he currently shares with Storm legend Matt Geyer.

“Cameron and Billy are both superstars of our game and for them to celebrate these milestones together is fitting given what they have achieved together in the game,” NRL Head of Football, Mr Todd Greenberg, said today.

“For Cam to continue his career as a one-club player with Melbourne is great for Storm fans and for Rugby League.”

Among other milestones for Round 2 of the Telstra Premiership:

• Roosters and NSW centre Michael Jennings will play his 150th NRL game on Saturday night against the Eels at Allianz Stadium;

• Canberra prop Brett White will play his 50th match for the Raiders in Sunday evening’s clash against the Knights in Newcastle;

• South Sydney winger Nathan Merritt needs just one try to become the most prolific try-scorer in Rabbitohs history. Merritt (144 tries) currently shares the record for most tries with the legendary Benny Wearing, who set the mark in 1933;

• Paul Holland will become the fifth Touch Judge to officiate in 300 first grade games in Saturday’s match between the Storm and Panthers. He joins Steve Betts, Steve Chiddy, Russell Turner and Steve Carrall in achieving the milestone. Holland made his NRL Touch Judge debut on July 8, 2001, in the match between the Bulldogs and Panthers.

• Touch Judge Luke Potter will officiate his 100th first grade match in Saturday night’s match between the Roosters and Eels.
