Shattered Cronulla coach Peter Sharp has lamented a win that got away following the Sharks' close 22-20 defeat to the Wests Tigers on Saturday night.
With the Sharks up by 10 points with 25 minutes remaining, the boys from the Shire couldn't hold out the Tigers.
Despite their best efforts, Cronulla fell to their eighth loss of the season to stay put on the bottom of the ladder for another week.
While the Sharks had five more sets than their opposition and went close to scoring another four times, the Tigers impressed at all the right times to snatch the win away from the disenchanted Sharks.
"They're trying their socks off and they're trying really hard but just things aren't happening, making errors at vital times and that's about the bottom line."
Sharks captain Paul Gallen said vice-captain Wade Graham had not made an official complaint after the game following his accusation that Tigers winger David Nofoaluma bit him midway through the first half.
"I don't know, I wasn't in the tackle. Nothing happened. Wade didn't make a complaint so there's nothing in it as far as I'm concerned," Gallen said.
"The penalty was a bit tough. I mean a little tap on the head. It is footy so probably shouldn't have been a penalty but there was nothing in it."
