Blake Green and Jesse Bromwich have been added to the Melbourne Storm's leadership group.

Five-eighth Blake Green and prop Jesse Bromwich were elevated to the Melbourne Storm leadership group on Tuesday alongside Billy Slater, Cooper Cronk and club captain Cameron Smith.

Green was promoted to the role after an impressive first season at the club accompanied by a successful campaign as captain during the Auckland Nines.

"It's a great opportunity to learn from those older boys that are in there. It also gives us a chance to voice our opinions and play a little mentoring role for some of the young players," Green said.

"I think my role probably won't change too much [on the field]. Obviously communication is a big part of what I do in the team anyway playing in the halves, so obviously I've had a lot of experience in my career even as a young kid coming through."

The promotion of Kiwis star Bromwich caps off a whirlwind 12 months for the big forward.

Along with this achievement, Bromwich was named the club's player of the year in 2015 and also took out the same award with the New Zealand national team.

The youngest of the five-man leadership group at just 26 years of age, Bromwich still has plenty of time to one day take on the captaincy role from Smith but he isn't thinking that far ahead just yet.

"I don't really look at it like that at the moment with Cam still there for the next few years," Bromwich said.

"He's a great captain. I'm just learning off them at the moment, and I'll just keep doing that."

While the captaincy may not have been on his mind, making the jump into the leadership group certainly was.

"It's definitely something I've thought about over the last few years. Now that it's happening I'm very excited to join the group and I'm very eager to learn off the three that are already in there," Bromwich said.

Both Bromwich and Green are turning their attention towards the premiership season ahead of the Storm's season launch on Friday and their Round 1 clash with the Dragons in a couple of weeks.

"At the moment I'm feeling very fresh and really looking forward to Round 1 on March 7," Bromwich said.
