It wasn't the complete performance but Melbourne's win over Cronulla was a huge step towards one.
The Storm blew the Sharks out of the water inside the opening 22 minutes, piling on three unanswered tries for an 18-point lead that proved the eventual margin in their second win of the season.
The home side appeared to finally click offensively after an inconsistent start to the season, completing their first 14 sets of the match and finishing with a completion rate of 92%, the best of any team across the weekend.
"It was a great win, it was a lot more clinical and we didn't have a big lapse like we did the previous week against Manly," Storm centre Will Chambers said.
"It was good and [we are] moving closer to an 80-minute performance which is exciting."
After playing three games in 13 days to start the Telstra Premiership, Melbourne will enjoy an eight-day break before taking on the winless Cowboys next Monday night in Townsville.
It is the first time in seven years that North Queensland has started a season with three consecutive defeats but complacency is something their opponents this week have little interest in entertaining.
"They are obviously really talented, with Johnathan Thurston, Matt Scott and James Tamou, they've got a very talented side and one that you can't take lightly," Chambers said.
"This week is our first big turnaround for the season which is good and the boys are looking forward to it.
"We know that going up there is going to be a big effort and they are going to be coming out with their backs against the wall and firing so we've just got to prepare well down here for the next week and be prepared to go up there on Monday night."
