Queensland assistant coach Michael Hagan says Sam Thaiday will again target James Maloney.

Queensland assistant coach Michael Hagan says Sam Thaiday will again be asked to target NSW five-eighth James Maloney in the Origin decider.

Hagan told SportsFan's Clubhouse that the plan had been in place from the start of the series, but didn't work as effectively in game one.

"We tried to get Sam Thaiday onto James Maloney in game one and didn't get it done," Hagan said. "NSW can say the same thing about game two where they didn't go at JT (Johnathan Thurston) as often."
