With just three days left to go, Holden Kangaroos skipper Cameron Smith and star players Johnathon Thurston and Greg Inglis are leading the bidding race for the 24 individually signed 2013 World Cup Kangaroos jerseys being auctioned to support Australian families whose lives were affected by the NSW Bushfires.
Bids can be made via nrl.com/auctions, with the Kangaroos jersey auction running until November 11.
"We are having some fun watching how the bidding is going, and I know the players are watching over in Ireland too and there are a few jokes about players' popularity," NRL chief operating officer Jim Doyle said.
"I encourage all clubs and fans to show support for their players.
"Whilst the ribbing is light hearted I know the squad sees this as a really important cause and we are keen to raise as much money as possible."
The Kangaroos will take on Ireland on Saturday night in Limerick with twins Josh and Brett Morris playing alongside each other for Australia for the third time on Saturday night.
The fundraising effort will continue with the auctioning of premium match day experiences for the 2014 State of Origin match in Sydney and the Telstra Premiership Grand Final, including tickets, chauffeur transport, and a tour of the dressing rooms with a former NRL star.
