The NRL will double the amount raised from a special Wests Tigers ticket deal for injured former player Simon Dwyer.

Wests Tigers will donate $5 from every adult ticket and family pass sold for the match against the Melbourne Storm next Monday night (4 August) at Campbelltown Stadium.

CEO Dave Smith said today it was a great initiative by the Wests Tigers which would be matched by the NRL.

“In other words, whatever Wests Tigers raise through the ticket deal will be doubled by a matching donation from the NRL,” Mr Smith said.

“I think everyone in the game has sympathy for Simon who suffered an injury while he was poised for such a successful career.

“This initiative means fans can cheer on Wests Tigers and support Simon at the same time.”

Mr Smith said he was delighted that the Tribute dinner for Simon on Friday night was already sold out.

More than 550 tickets have been sold to the event at Wests Campbelltown.

The NRL will have two tables at the dinner and provide auction items to help raise funds.

“This is an important weekend for Simon and we urge all fans to do what they can to support him,” Mr Smith said.
